(Amsterdam, 9th June 1918 - Amsterdam, 9th July 1969) Manager of Theatre Company Toneelgroep Theater from 1953 until 1960. Manager of Theatre Company Het Nieuw Rotterdams Toneel from 1962 until his death in1969. Father of actors Edwin de Vries and Bart de Vries.
