American gospel singer, Born August 24, 1950 at Nashville's General Hospital. Best known as one of the featured vocalists for BET's long-running Bobby Jones Gospel television series. McCrary's father, Rev. S.H. McCrary was a founding member of the The Fairfield Four quartet. She began singing at the age of two. As a teenager, McCrary joined the The B. C. & M. Choir, while her sister Regina, began a long stint as a backing vocalist for Bob Dylan. McCrary was the lead vocalist on their hits such as a remake of Mattie Moss Clark's "Salvation Is Free". Sometime around 1988 she formed the "St. Mark Ensemble Choir" and directed them for a dozen years. She also formed a gospel group called CBS Singers (Cousins, Brothers, and Sisters) with her siblings and cousins. The group later renamed itself The McCrarys. Self titled Ann McCrary in 2002 was her last studio recording.
