William Edward Phillips (born 12 February 1987), known as Tourist, is an English electronic musician, songwriter, and producer from London. He co-wrote Sam Smith’s single Stay With Me, which won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 2015.
Under the Tourist moniker, Phillips has released several full-length albums: U (2016), Everyday (2019), Wild (2019), Inside Out (2022), and Memory Morning (2024). A further album is expected in 2025, preceded by the single Outside, released on 20 August 2025. His music draws on elements of house, garage, and ambient electronica, often with an emphasis on instrumental and “wordless” compositions intended for close listening rather than club settings.
Tourist has also produced remixes for a wide range of artists, including The Weeknd, Flume, Christine and the Queens, Hozier, Wolf Alice, and Chvrches.
