British composer and keyboardist, born on 6 May 1943 in Maidstone, Kent, England (UK), died on 5 February 2025. Founder and long-time member of Soft Machine, from 1966 to 1976. He was married to Marsha Hunt since 15 April 1967 but the couple soon separated without formally divorcing, remaining friends who never lived together. When Ratledge died, he was survived by his partner Elena.
