American brother and sister vocal duo, popular in the 1960s and 1970s, comprising Nino Tempo (born Antonino LoTempio) and April Stevens (born Carol Vincinette LoTempio). Formed early 1960s after auditioning for Ahmet Ertegun, who signed the duo to Atlantic's sublabel Atco. They charted in the U.S. as a duo 17 times, "Deep Purple" hitting #1 in 1963 (for which they won a Grammy Award in 1963 for best rock & roll recording), "Whispering" rising to #11 (#4 adult contemporary), and "Stardust", which hit #32 in 1964 (#10 adult contemporary). They also charted 3 times as a songwriting duo, hitting #41 in the U.K. with "A Woman's Story" by Marc Almond in 1986 (Phil Spector co-writing with them).
