German vocal / music ensemble (Schlager), founded 1945, very successful especially in the 1950s. Until their withdrawal from the show business in 1972, they sold 10 million records (15 LPs and more than 90 singles). Hensch, Cyprys and Geithner applied independently for a job at a variety theatre in Flensburg, Germany, in 1945. Because the stage director could not produce a theatre licence from the Allied Military Government, the three formed their own band in October of the same year. In 1946 they performed for the first time as "Friedel Hensch und die Cyprys" at the ballroom "Trichter" on the Reeperbahn. They used their alias "Tante Fröhlich Und Die Hutzelmännchen" ("Auntie Merry and the Hutzelmanikins") to record children's songs.
