Gustav Schmahl

Gustav Schmahl (born November 29, 1929 in Herford; † October 4, 2003 in Schwielowsee) was a German violinist and university professor. He was the only student of Давид Фёдорович Ойстрах from the GDR. Schmahl temporarily worked as concertmaster of the Rundfunk‐Sinfonieorchester Berlin and from 1973 to 1984 as rector of the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” University of Music in Leipzig.
