Leonid Kazakov (born 1976) is a Russian viola player and conductor. His father is a choral conductor, his mother is a vocal teacher. From the age of 6 he studied violin at the music school of the city of Sverdlovsk-45. Then he studied at the music school named after P.I. Tchaikovsky in Chelyabinsk as a violinist and viola player. After serving in the army, he completed his secondary education at the Sverdlovsk music school named after P.I. Tchaikovsky in the viola class of Professor Teri G.I. He continued his education at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, specializing in viola, in the class of prof. Yu. M. Yurov = Юрий Юров and the class of the Berlinsky V.A. quartet. He worked in the Yekaterinburg chamber orchestra "BACH" = Екатеринбургский Камерный Оркестр "B-A-C-H", in the symphony orchestra Metro Philharmonic Orchestra and since 2002 he has been working as an orchestra artist and conductor in the Moscow Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra. His credits include performing solo works for viola with an orchestra, conducting rehearsal work with a group of violas, preparing and performing programs for the Musica Viva orchestra both as an artist of the highest category orchestra and as a conductor, working on arrangements for a chamber orchestra of works by classics and modern authors.
