Perucho Aguirre

Pedro Aguirre, best known as Perucho Aguirre (b. La Asunción, Margarita Island, February 10, 1940) folklorist, musician, poet, composer, writer, journalist, Physics and Mathematic teacher. Aguirre founded the musical group "Collar de Perlas" (collar pearls), leading the group for more than five decades, in fact, his labor in front this folklore group gave him many recognition. Aguirre is founder of "Profundidad" a magazine with the goal to spread cultural manifestations of Venezuelan East. He wrote and published some books as "Cuerpo Presente", "El Mar visto desde mis Años" and "La Partida de José Pepita". The Perucho Aguirre's Songbook is plenty of Venezuelan East folklore: Polos, Jotas and Malagueñas; and some of his songs were recorded by outstanding musicians as Gualberto Ibarreto.
