Whitehouse were a Noise band founded in London in 1980, by William Bennett. They have a worldwide underground cult following. The group released nine albums in their first phase, plus two related albums under the names The New Order and The 150 Murderous Passions. Peter McGhee was a close collaborator for most of those records. After the release of 1985's 35580, Bennett put the project on ice. By the late '80s Whitehouse started again, with writer Peter Sotos as a main member. After releasing three albums in the early '90s (with production by Steve Albini), Philip Best entered the band once more; he had played with Whitehouse close to the end of their first phase. The line-up of Bennett / Sotos / Best released five albums in the following years, with their final one, 2003's 167522, being considered by many as their most important record. Sotos left the band after the LP's recording. Bennett and Best released 73233 in 2006, and 1601180 in 2007, before Best departed in 2008. After performing some live shows, Bennett ended Whitehouse in 2009.
