Zimbabwean singer, musician and actor Born: 8th July 1946 Mujumi, Mhondoro, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) Died: 20th January 2023 Harare, Zimbabwe Defied tradition by becoming Africa's most famous female mbira player as it was only played by men. Her daughter revealed after her death that "Chiweshe was a totem she adopted as a stage name".
