Heavy Metal band from Buenos Aires, Argentina, active from 1995 to 2016. The group was named after Argentine poet Pedro Bonifacio Palacios a.k.a. Almafuerte. The band was formed in 1995 by Ricardo Iorio after Hermética''s disbandment, they opened for Ozzy Osbourne (1995), Metallica (1999) and Megadeth (2005). Almafuerte were one of the few local Metal bands who sold out tickets to play at a soccer stadium (Estadio Islas Malvinas) in front of 25,000 fans (2013). Their lyrics, penned by Iorio, are mostly about nationalism, human, and social issues. Some of the tunes are covers of, or influenced by Argentine folk music.
