State Small Symphony Orchestra was an orchestra that existed from 1985 to 2004. During the Soviet era, it was also known as Small State Symphony Orchestra of the USSR, and since 1995, State Symphony Orchestra lead by Vladimir Ponkin.
The orchestra was founded in 1985 by Yuri Simonov.
In 1989, following a conflict with the orchestra, Simonov left the orchestra. Vassily Sinaisky became its chief conductor for a short time (1989–1990).
From 1990 to 2004, Vladimir Ponkin = Владимир Понькин held the post of chief conductor.
In 1995, the ensemble was renamed State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Ponkin = Симфонический Оркестр Под Художественным Руководством В. Понькина.
Further traces of the orchestra's existence are lost.
