Swedish music radio producer and musician, born July 23, 1930 in Stockholm, died March 17, 2023 in Djursholm. He studied at Uppsala University, where he received his PhD in 1953, and then joined Sveriges Radio in 1954. He became a familiar radio voice on Sveriges Radio P2. In numerous music radio series, he presented music by Bach and Mozart, among others. He also worked as a choirmaster in Djursholm Chapel. He was elected as member no. 870 of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1991. In 2022, he was awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's highest award – the medal for the promotion of the art of music. KMA's motivation: "From early youth until his retirement, von Heijne was employed by Swedish Radio, where he contributed in various roles to developing both music journalism and the program offering, as well as the reach of music radio. As a program host, he has guided several generations of P2 listeners in their encounter with classical music with his unmistakable narrative voice, crackling humor and precise choice of words. He has also generously poured out his deep well of knowledge in writings and teaching materials, through lectures and in his own music-making. Always curious and eager to share his learning with others, Ingemar von Heijne is undoubtedly among our country's foremost folk educators in classical music." He is the father of pianist Claes von Heijne.
