Estonian-American jazz cellist and strings musician.
Born May 26, 1930 in Tartu, Estonia.
Died November 29, 2022, age of 92.
In 1951, Täht moved to the U.S., where he graduated from Dana College and the Manhattan School of Music. For over 20 years, he held a successful musical career in New York City and also worked in the Estonian department of the Voice of America in Washington D.C.
For over 25 years, he was a member of the acclaimed Don Shirley Trio, which inspired the 2018 film, “Green Book.”
Täht was awarded the Estonian Republic’s White Star V Class Order of Merit and Revelia’s Distinguished Service Cross.
