Guitarist and songwriter Auburn Burrell, from Jacksonville, Florida, began his career with a local band called The Dalton Gang before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, where he replaced J.R. Cobb as the guitar player for the Classics IV from 1968 - 1970. He worked with Mylon LeFevre on several albums during the '70s, making his name as a session guitarist and moving to Los Angeles, where he continued session work as well as some studio engineering. He notably worked on Rage Against the Machine's debut album, loaning his Gibson Les Paul to Tom Morello to play on the closing of "Bullet In The Head".
