Groep 1850 aka Group 1850 was a psychedelic rock band from Den Haag (the Hague) in The Netherlands. The band was founded in 1964 as the Klits and renamed Groep 1850 in 1966 when their debut single appeared on the tiny Yep label (few copies were pressed). After they were signed to Philips, more singles ensued. Their debut album Agemo's Trip To Mother Earth appeared in late 1968. In Holland its sleeve had a 3D image on the cover, and came with a pair of 3D glasses (copies with the glasses unperforated are especially prized today). The UK release (also on Philips) did not help the band gain a footing outside Holland, and Philips dropped them. Their next album, Paradise Now, appeared on the Dutch Discofoon label in 1969. The band disbanded after its release, but regrouped soon after and was sporadically active through the 1970s. Especially notable was another excellent single, 1971's Fire b/w Have You Ever Heard? (on Polydor, with picture sleeve) and 1975's Polyandri LP, their 3rd and final studio album.
