L.A. Reid

Note: when appearing as a partnership duo with Babyface, please use the L.A. & Babyface entry American record executive, former R&B songwriting/production partner of singer/producer Babyface (1983-1993), and former drummer/programmer/mixing engineer. After success with numerous acts, including Bobby Brown, the two set up LaFace Records in 1989. In 2000, after many years putting out hits under the Arista umbrella, LaFace was merged into Arista and L.A. was chosen as the replacement for Arista boss Clive Davis. In 2004 he moved to the Def Jam/Island Music Group, and in 2011 he became CEO of Epic, until resigning amid scandal in 2017. Married to singer Pebbles from 1989-1996.
