Salsa, merengue and jazz trumpet player, commonly known under his nickname "Ite". Born in the Dominican Republic, in Cotuí, in the province of Sánchez Ramírez, he was the son of Niño Jerez, himself a musician. He fled to New York in 1968. Since then, he has been touring all over the world with artists such as Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco and Celia Cruz. In Addition, he has been recording with, amongst others, Marc Anthony, David Byrne and The Talking Heads, Charlie Palmieri, El Conjunto Clásico, José Alberto El Canario, Eddie Palmieri, José José, Daniel Santos, Tito Rodríguez Junior, Héctor Lavoe, Cheo Feliciano, La Sophy, New York Brass Quartet, Grover Washington, Lionel Hampton, Vitín Avilés, Orquesta Cubanísmo, Count Basie Orchestra and Sarita Montiel. Recently, he was involved in Paul Simons Broadway opera "The Capeman".
