She got her start with The Back Porch Majority, then she traveled around the world singing with the The New Christy Minstrels for a season before moving on to s short stint with the Kirby Stone Company. She did all of that prior to her 21st birthday. After turning 21, she embarked on a solo venture and wrote the lyrics, composed the music & produced her debut album "Carol Carmichael – Songbook" (1972).
