Fogo Fogo

Lisbon (Portugal) based band that started as a tribute to the Cape Verdean rhythms, and to explore the classic funaná repertoire within the various existing strands, having evolved to it's own new sound adding rock and afro funk. It was born out of the challenge made by Casa Independente (a Lisbon venue) to musician João Gomes to revive Sunday's dancing balls. The name of Fogo Fogo is inspired by the volcano island ‘Fogo’, which means ‘fire’.
