David Stanoch

Minnesota-based drummer, percussionist and educator. Married to singer/songwriter Katy Tessman. Studied with Elliot Fine. At age 16, he was selected to be principal percussionist for the 1978 European Tour of America's Youth in Concert. Later that same year, he won First Place in the Minnesota state competition of the Louis Bellson/Slingerland Drum Company National Drum Contest. David attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, focusing on jazz, percussion, and performance studies with Richard Davis, Larry Latimer, Max Roach, Alan Dawson and Zakir Hussain. David was part of progressive jazz trio Triplicate which reunites occasionally. David has been on the faculty of the McNally Smith College of Music (formerly Musictech) since 1990. He also teaches drumset performance masterclasses at colleges, high schools, music stores, and music camps, year round. In 1993, David received a Certificate of Recognition from the Pro-Mark Corporation of America. In 2006, David became a published author and in 2008 published his first method book, Mastering the Tables of Time.
