Danish jazz singer, composer and teacher, born 7 March 1972 in Aarhus, Denmark. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. In 1994 she formed the group Swing Quintet, which debuted with I'm Old Fashioned in 1996, which was followed by Dream Dancing in 1997. She has also participated in Ed Thigpen's Ed ThigPen Rhythm Features, has toured with Lars Møller on saxophone, Jan Lundgreen on piano, Jesper Bodilsen on bass and Morten Lund on drums in various contexts. In the spring of 2000 she appeared in the DR TV series Edderkoppen as a nightclub singer, where she also appeared on the soundtrack. The same year the album My Secret was released, which received good reviews. On her tour in connection with My Secret she was accompanied by guitarist Jacob Fischer and bassist Jesper Bodilsen. Katrine Madsen has collaborated with Swedish musicians on several occasions. She has teamed up with the Gothenburg orchestra Bohuslän Big Band, which also led to a tour of Scandinavia. She has also sung with the Claes Crona trio and Svante Thuresson.
