The Holidays

1960s soul group from Detroit, Michigan, originally The Caprees from Jackson, Mississippi. Edwin Starr sings lead vocals on their song "I’ll Love You Forever" released on Golden World (1966). Original members: Maurice Tony Gray, Willie “Butch” Johnson, Robert “Earl” Johnson and Charles “Chuck” Guy; then Tony Hester, later replaced by Eddie Anderson *Revilot Records re-used the group's name for three releases recorded by various people (1967-69); Eddie Anderson sings lead vocals on "Never Alone" and Leon Ware sings lead vocals "Love’s Creeping Up On Me". **Groove City Records (2) also used the group's name for one release recorded by Clyde Wilson a.k.a. Steve Mancha (1968). In 1969, Jack Holland (2) and Jimmy Holland (3) (former members of the Four Hollidays with two "L") formed a band called the New Holidays with Maurice Wise and ex-The Contours Joe Billingslea (later replaced by Sylvester Potts) and launched their own label: Marathon Records (3).
