山口 智史 = Satoshi Yamaguchi

Satoshi Yamaguchi (born March 20, 1985) is a Japanese drummer. Joined RADWIMPS midway through the band. He and Yusuke Takeda joined at the same time. He performed at the Yokohama Highschool Music Festival 2002, where RADWIMPS also performed, with a metal band called "をかし." On September 23, 2015, he announced on his official website that he would be taking an indefinite break due to a worsening of his chronic condition, focal dystonia. During Yamaguchi's hiatus, the band has been performing with a support drummer. As of 2022, he has not yet overcome his condition, and there is no prospect of him returning. He is currently working with researchers at Keio University to identify the causes of dystonia, and it was his first media appearance in seven years in a discussion article about this research. On September 28, 2024, on his personal account on X, Yamaguchi reported that the Musician's Dystonia (MD) research team, with which he is working, had published the first paper. The paper was published in the Frontiers academic journal "Frontiers in Neurology" on September 21, with Yamaguchi as the fourth author. The title of the paper is "Drumming performance and underlying muscle activities in a professional rock drummer with lower-limb dystonia: a case study."
