Born in Mahamasina-Est, a district of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, Edgard Ravahatra is a singer-songwriter who performs in Malagasy and French (out of a love for Georges Brassens (whose songs he has covered). A guitarist and also a devotee of the amponga (an ancestral drum), he expresses in his songs the love and unbreakable bond he feels for his large native island, its culture, and its people.
