Christian von Grumbkow
Christian von Grumbkow's discography with cataloged releases, editions, and credits
German guitarist and songwriter in the Krautrock era, born in 1946 in Oberhausen, Germany. Grumbkow ist also painter, he studied at the Wuppertal academy from 1966 to 1971. In 1963, he started as guitarist in the local Beat band "The Beatkids" together with his brother Andreas. In 1965, the switched to Blues and founded a band called "Action Issue Blues Band", where also the youngest brother Joachim von Grumbkow appeared for the first time. In that band, he played the guitar and trumpet. In 1970, Joachim and Christian started a cover band together with Christian's later wife Nanny de Ruig. After the band had a fixed line-up in 1971, they started to write own songs. On the way to their first album, Christian also was responsible for the album artwork. In the end of 1976, the band also helped Ina Deter on her first solo album. As Christian is more and more involved as lecturer at the art school and with his paintings, he decides not to go on tour with the band anymore in 1977. But he stays involved in their studio productions until the end of the band in 1981. Christian doesn't return on the band's revival in 2005.
