The Five Blue Notes

US R&B vocal group, based in Washington DC, but recorded their first two records in Chicago, Illinois. Members: Fleming Briscoe (Lead, Tenor), Andy Magruder (Lead), Jackie Shedrick (First Tenor), Robert Stroud (Second Tenor), Moise Vaughn (Baritone, Bass) Theodore "Cookie" Garner replaced Andy Magruder when he joined the Marines in late 1953. The group split up when Moise Vaughn joined the Marines in March of 1954. When Andy Magruder returned in 1958, he remade the group. Members in 1958: Andy Magruder, Robert Stroud, Moise Vaughn, Jackie Shedrick, Louis Smalls (Lead Tenor). The group broke up for good in 1959.
