Since 2006, singer/songwriter Matthijn Buwalda has been performing his Dutch-language songs, and more and more people are discovering his music, which can best be described as a cross between cabaret and Dutch pop. He started performing in churches and transitioned to theater in 2012.
He co-wrote the song "Dit pakt niemand ons meer af," which was nominated for a Rembrandt Award in the category Best Film Theme Song. He also won the Buma Culture Prize/Zilveren Duif Award in 2015 for Best Song. In 2024, Matthijn participated in the television program Beste Zangers (Best Singers).
