US oboe player (b. 1925- )
Arthur Jensen was born on 13th March 1925 in Logan in Utah. At the age of 16 he won first prize in Trumpet at the national youth music competition. He studied at San Francisco and Berkley Universities in California, Joining the military in 1943 in the US. Marin Corps, he served as an Assault Demolitionist in North China. Continuing his language studies in 1946 in Berkley, Europe living in Basel Paris and Lausanne, where he graduated switched subjects to music in 1948 studying the oboe.
In 1949 he relocated to with first prize in 1952. Bernhard Paumgartner then summoned him to Salzburg. and the Mozarteum Orchestra. His solo activity took him all around Europe. He appeared many times as a soloist at the Salzburg Festival and with the Camerata Academica
In his 30 years as Professor of oboe at the Mozarteum Hochschule in Salzburg, he has taught many students whose names are famous today. He retired from this position in 1991.
