Daniel Vangarde was born as Daniel Bangalter in 1947. He was married to ballet dancer, actress and mosaic artist Thérèse Thoreux (aka Thoreaux), with whom he had one son, viz. Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk fame. Bangalter is a French songwriter and producer. He co-wrote and originally produced a number of hit records in the 1970s and 1980s, including D.I.S.C.O. (recorded by Ottawan), Cuba (by Gibson Brothers), Aie A Mwana (by Black Blood, rerecorded by Bananarama as their debut single) and the Yamasuki Singers. After retiring from the music industry, he moved to Caraíva in Bahia, Brazil.
