Scottish singer from Glasgow (born 13 August 1921 - died 13 March 2022, aged 100) who was discovered as a 13-year old schoolgirl by dance band leader Roy Fox in a talent contest. She sang with Fox's band from the age of 14, making a number of recordings with him. Often billed as Little Mary Lee, owing to her young age, she also sang with the bands of Bert Ambrose, Jack Payne, Jack Jackson and Harry Roy. Lee’s first marriage was to variety performer Ron Jackley, brother of comedian Nat, in 1942. The couple had a daughter, Diana, in 1946. Mary then married Scottish comedian Jack Milroy in 1952, who she performed with on stage and television. He died in 2001, predeceasing her and their son, Jim. Mary’s son Jim (born 1954) died aged 60 in 2014.
