Producer, Photographer, Editor, Liner Notes author. Worked at the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University as Curator (1976–1977), Assistant Director (1977–1987) and Associate Director (1987–2011). Founder of the jazz record label Evening Star Records, he co-authored the biography/discography Benny Carter: A Life In American Music (with his father, Morroe Berger), and also wrote or co-wrote biographies of Teddy Reig, George Duvivier and Joe Wilder. Ed Berger died at his home in Princeton, NJ, at the age of 67 following an apparent heart attack on January 22, 2017.
