Founded by Gregory Leroy Dewey, Nick Dewey, Tim Eschliman and Paul Wenninger in 1977 and included Dan Hicks (of Hot Licks fame). The band operated under various names until the name was The Christmas Jug Band was adopted for the 1986 debut release, Mistletoe Jam. Previous names included The Monday Night Wild Turkey Jug Band (original name), The 3 Wise Men +4 -1 Jug Band, R U Holden & It's In The Bag Jug Band.
