American artist, producer, songwriter, keyboardist, pianist, engineer, Phoenix, AZ-based. Artist, producer, pianist and songwriter Michael Broening has written and produced over 65 contemporary jazz hits, including 45 top 10 and 25 #1 singles, one of which was the 2007 Grammy winning song "Mornin'" by George Benson and Al Jarreau. Since 2001, Mike has written and produced albums for a who's who of contemporary jazz artists, including Benson, Marion Meadows, Tim Bowman, Steve Oliver, Althea Rene, Cindy Bradley, Brian Simpson, Lin Rountree, Nick Colionne, Randy Scott, Kim Scott, Will Donato and Kayla Waters. Many featured multiple singles written by Mike that charted in the top 5. On Benson's CD "Givin' it Up," Michael was credited playing B3 organ on the song "Bring it on Home to Me," which featured Paul McCartney. The album hit #1 on the Billboard Jazz Sales chart and took home 3 Grammy's in 2007. In 2010, his production of Bradley's "Bloom" helped Cindy win the 2010 New Artist of the Year. His Production of Scott's 2020 "Joyride" helped Randy win 2020 New Artist of the Year. As songwriter and producer, three times Michael had the #1 and #2 songs on Billboard at the same time. In Dec 2019 with Kayla Waters "Full Bloom" and Cindy Bradley's "Wind Chill Factor," in Oct 2020 with Randy Scott's "Joyride" and Lin Rountree's "Fluid," and in September 2024 with Gregory Goodloe’s “Groovin’ On” and Randy Scott’s “Embrace.” All 6 songs hit #1. As an artist, Michael's single “Happy Hour,” the debut from his new label B-Hive Records, hit #1 on Billboard for 2 weeks in December ’24. His previous three singles, “The Way She Moves”, “Let it Breathe” and “Talk to Me”, all hit #1 on the Billboard Jazz Charts, while “Summer in Blue” hit #2 on Billboard and #1 on the Smooth Jazz Network chart. All 4 songs are featured on his 2023 album Never too Late. All told, in 2023 and 2024, Michael wrote and produced a staggering 12 #1 singles. His latest single, “Together Again,” is scheduled to release on May 5th, 2025.
