Chor Des Gebirgs-Fernmeldebataillons 8, Murnau

German Soldiers Choir of the Mountain Telecommunications Battalion 8 (Gebirgsfernmeldebataillons 8). Only active in the 1960s and 1970s. The choir often appeared with the Gebirgsmusikkorps Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The battalion was founded on 1 April 1958 and was located in Mittenwald, the battalion was part of the 1. Gebirgsdivision in the German army (Bundeswehr). In 1966 the battalion was transferred to the Werdenfels barracks in Murnau. In 1981 was transferred to the Kemmel barracks in Murnau. In 1992 the battalion was renamed "Gebirgsstabs- und Fernmeldelehrbataillon 8". In 1 October 2005 the battalion was renamed "Führungsunterstützungsbataillon 293". In 1 July 2017, the battalion was renamed "Informationstechnikbataillon 293" which is its current name.
