Piss Factory were a short-lived but very vocal band in the mid-grunge scene, and a rare grunge band fronted by a woman, singer/bassist Lizzie Avondet. The remainder of the lineup featured Finnish-born guitarist Harri Kupiainen, guitarist Paul Eng, and drummer Andy Markham. The band, who took their their name from the Patti Smith single “Hey Joe / Piss Factory”, have gone through few member changes before they disbanded in mid 90's.
Formed around 1992, they released their first sing “Autostrada / Bad Day” on Big Dog Records, but it was Relativity Records who would go on to produce and distribute their only self-titled album “Piss Factory” in 1993. Following the personell changes, with only Avondet and Kupiainen as remaining members, they recruited Bobby Belltower (guitar) and Lenny Montoya (drums) for a follow up “I Melt”, an EP released in 1994 produced by Kurt Wolf and Edward Douglas. Since then, the band has ceased all activity and have subsequently disbanded, with Avondet and Kupiainen both joined Emma Peel, and Belltower going back to The Leaving Trains.
After disbanding Emma Peel, Avondet moved on to work with her husband, Bobby Belltower, then former Leaving Trains guitarist.
