Belgian singer and guitarist, born 23 June 1949, Mechelen, Belgium - died 29 November 2024, Lagos, Portugal.
De Coninck started his musical career at the age of 15 playing guitar in his first band, The Hot Matches. After two years of busking and fruit picking in France, he returned to Belgium and teamed up with Jean Rousseau to record 218661. Following his move to Bruges, he recorded Crapule de luxe in 1979. As part of the band Crapule de Luxe, he toured for 3 years through the Benelux, releasing Rooms for Travellers in 1981.
He subsequently moved to Portugal where he lived with Annie Mad (mother of Jeremiah Persyn). Following the release of a 'best of' CD in 2000, he began composing again, strongly influenced by Latin rhythms and melodies. In Portugal he met and collaborated with artist 5187660 and Chris Post which resulted in the recording of La Salsichafobia De Marzapane. Later, he formed The Woodbines with Rik Mullender. In 2018, he formed Château Clochard with Christopher Ford and Scoob.
