The Tokyo Cuban Boys

JapanJapan

Or 東京キューバン・ボーイズ, also appears as 見砂直照と東京キューバン・ボーイズ (Tadaaki Misago And Tokyo Cuban Boys) on recordings until 1980. Japanese Latin big band formed in 1949 by Tadaaki Misago. The band introduced Latin music such as Mambo widely to Japan. They perform not only Latin music and Latin arrangements of pop music, but also movie soundtracks and Japanese folk songs. In 1980, due to Tadaaki Misago retiring, the band stopped recording but continued to sparingly perform for the band anniversary concerts, in festivals and some other musical events. In 2002, the band was forced to stop performing, the name 東京キューバンボーイズ having been acquired by a third party. In 2003, after officially regaining control of the 東京キューバンボーイズ trademark, the band resumed its activities with Kazuaki Misago, the son of Tadaaki Misago as its leader. Since then, the band has been performing regularly and has released several albums.
