Formed in 1987 under the name The Jools Holland Big Band, Jools Holland And His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra are a British musical collective formed by the aforementioned pianist Jools Holland, where they blend various musical styles, including Jazz, Blues and "Boogie-Woogie". Although formed in the late 80's, the band wouldn't release music under the moniker until 1994's '2755583', which was a recording from one of the 10 nights' where they performed at Queen's Hall in Edinburgh that same year. In 2001 the band would release a series called 'Small World Big Band', which predominantly featured new recordings with a main focus on guest vocalists. The group can also often be found occasionally performing on the TV show 'Later... With Jools Holland'. The band line-up includes: Jools Holland - Piano / Vocals, Gilson Lavis - Drums & Percussion, Mark Flanagan - Lead Guitar, Dave Swift - Bass Guitar, Christopher Holland - Organ, Ruby Turner - Vocals, Phil Veacock - Tenor Saxophone, Michael Rose - Tenor Saxophone, Derek Nash - Alto Saxophone, Anna Brooks - Alto Saxophone, Nick Lunt - Baritone Saxophone, Winston Rollins - Trombone, Roger Goslyn - Trombone, Fayyaz Virji - Trombone, Jon Scott - Trumpet / Fugle, Chris Storr - Trumpet, Lisa Grahame - Saxophone, Pete Long - Saxophone and Jason McDermid - Trumpet.
