Belgian pop band most famous for Daydream, which has been covered and sampled. Not to be confused with The Wallace Collection, an internationally acclaimed brass group established by John Wallace (4).
The band was founded in 1968 from the remains of Sylvester's Team. Three of the original members (namely Sylvain Vanholme, Freddy Nieuland and Marc Herouet) then went on to form the band 16th Century, together with bass-player Christian Janssen and the classical musicians Raymond Vincent and Jacques Namotte. These two were members in the Belgian National Philharmonic Orchestra, but had been flirting with popular music already in a band called Stradivarius.
Wallace Collection disbanded in 1971 but has made comebacks since. Four of its members also resurfaced in Daydream. Of all of the band's members, Sylvain Vanholme became the most succesful, scoring huge hits with Two Man Sound and having produced a large number of Belgian records since, e.g. Octopus (5), Salix Alba, Machines, Gorki, Jo Lemaire + Flouze, Kids.
