Drummer from Port Chester, New York (born July 14, 1950), best known as member of influential funk band Sly & The Family Stone from 1973 to 1975, whose album Fresh is considered to be one of the great funk drumming performances. Newmark has performed and recorded with many top musical artists since the 1970s, including John Lennon, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, George Harrison, Rickie Lee Jones, Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Bryan Ferry, Roxy Music and George Benson. He is featured on Carly Simon's 1971 album Anticipation and Gary Wright's 1975 album The Dream Weaver.
