Leroy Brown was born in Kingston, Jamaica. After singing in church at an early age, as so many other artists did, he was discovered by the great Alton Ellis. In the 60's Leroy started singing with The Emotions (2) and The Hippy Boys. In 1971 Leroy moved to Canada where he started The Roys (4). After that Leroy continued to visit extensively his home country. In Jamaica he recorded "Color Barrier" and four or five other songs in 1975, which saw release on his debut lp Prayer Of Peace. These recording sessions were held at Arthur "Duke" Reid's Treasure Isle Recording Studio, Channel One Recording Studio and King Tubby's Studio.
