Redd is a Turkish alternative rock band formed in September 1996 in Istanbul. Originally starting as the Invictus Band, tenor opera singer Doğan Duru and guitarist Berke Hatipoğlu decided to evolve the project and invited Güneş Duru and keyboardist İlke Hatipoğlu to complete the lineup. They performed under the name Ten for several years, playing countless bar gigs across the city while writing their own material. Frustrated with expensive rental studios, they built their own studio in 2004, changed their name to Redd and released their debut album 1646320 in 2005 under Stardium. The first music video for “Mutlu Olmak İçin” marked the beginning of their recorded journey. Their real breakthrough came with the 2006 album 1646321 on Pasaj Müzik. The hit single “Falan Filan” climbed to No. 10 on the MTV World Music Charts, instantly making Redd one of the most talked-about acts in Turkish rock. This was followed by the acoustic live album/DVD Gecenin Fişi Yok (2008), the studio album 916318 (2008), the conceptual 4194999 (2009) and the original soundtrack Prensesin Uykusu (Film Müzikleri) (2010) for Çağan Irmak’s film of the same name. The band continued to evolve in the 2010s with 1070788 (2012), the deeply introspective 1347549 (2016) and 1521450 (2019). In 2022 they released the live album release 31864352, recorded at Zorlu PSM and Salon İKSV, capturing their powerful stage presence. Their most recent studio album 4195956 (2025) once again showcased their signature blend of melodic rock, poetic lyrics and emotional depth. Known for Doğan Duru’s powerful and distinctive tenor vocals — shaped by his classical opera background — poetic, socially aware lyrics and a melodic yet dynamic rock sound, Redd has never chased mainstream trends. The band has performed nearly a thousand concerts in Turkey and across Europe. They opened for Bon Jovi at Türk Telekom Arena in 2011 and took strong social stands, such as organizing the “Rock for Van” charity concert after the 2011 Van earthquake (which funded the building of a school) and a memorial concert for Hrant Dink, donating proceeds to the Hrant Dink Foundation while dedicating the song “Özgürlük Sırtından Vurulmuş” on the album 21. For nearly three decades, Redd has remained one of the most consistent, independent and respected voices in Turkish alternative rock — a band that has always stayed true to its artistic integrity while growing with its loyal audience. Current members: Doğan Duru (vocals, bass guitar) Güneş Duru (backing vocals, guitar) Berke Özgümüş (drums) Past members: Berke Hatipoğlu (backing vocals, guitar) İlke Hatipoğlu (keyboards, backing vocals) Ege Göktuna (bass)
