Kerstin Thorborg

Swedish operatic contralto and hovsångare (royal court singer), born 19 May 1896 in Venjan, Sweden and died 12 April 1970 in Hedemora, Sweden. Engagement as a soloist at the Kungliga Operan (Royal Swedish Opera) in Stockholm 1925-1930, with guest appearances until 1951. During the 1930s she was engaged at the Prague opera, the Städtische Oper in Berlin, and the Wiener Staatsoper. She sang at the Metropolitan in New York almost every year between 1936 and 1950.
