Singer-songwriter and guitarist from Ampanihy, Atsimo-Andrefana, Madagascar.
Teta hails from Ampanihy, a village located on the long track connecting Tulear and Fort Dauphin, right in the Great South region of Madagascar. Born in 1967, he grew up in the midst of the traditional music style called Tsapiky, travelling with his father and brother who performed at celebration and bals poussière (dances in the dust) as well as traditional ceremonies throughout the region. He first started to learn the mandolin but opted for the guitar at the age of eight. He was soon spotted for his talent and agility and nicknamed “the nimble-fingered guitarist”.
