Pussy Galore

American garage noise / punk band from Washington, D.C. formed in 1985 by Jon Spencer and Julie Cafritz. After releaing their debut 7", Neil Hagerty (of Royal Trux) entered the band. After releasing another EP, the band moved to New York, where Sonic Youth's Bob Bert and Spencer's girlfriend (and future wife) Cristina Martinez joined the group. Pussy Galore released four albums and disbanded in 1990. Spencer would then form The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and Boss Hog with Martinez. Cafritz would play with Kim Gordon in Free Kitten, while Bert would join Chrome Cranks, and Hagerty would continue work with Royal trux.
