Beginning in the late 1950s, Chester played on over 14,000 recording sessions, more than that, producing many hit records in the late 1950s, 60s and 70s in New York City’s Brill Building era. He brought lots of jazz concepts into the rock and pop world.
Chester's book The New Breed: Systems for the Development of Your Own Creativity is one of the top drum method books of all time.
