He was married to Busk Margit Jonsson 1956-63. His warm, steady voice and powerful stage presence made him a dramatic interpreter of opera roles. His portrayals of the title role in Simon Boccanegra and of Don Carlos in The Power of Fate were considered to be among the best interpretations of value today. Engagement as a soloist at the Kungliga Operan (Royal Swedish Opera) in Stockholm 1956-1968, with later guest appearances.
