Victor Willis

American singer, songwriter and actor Born: 1st July 1951 Dallas, Texas, USA Died: 29th June 2026 Lead vocalist of the original line-up of the Village People. His character in the group was either the policeman or the naval officer. He was came to the attention of the group's svengalis, Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo through the arranger and conductor Horace Ott who knew him from the Broadway musical The Wiz. He impressed Morali and Belolo enough, while working as a background singer for The Ritchie Family, to build the band around him. Married to Phylicia Rashad from 1978 to 1982.
